Healthcare Salary Surveys
Currently, RBMA collects salary data for radiology business managers only. However, many sources of salary data for other positions do exist. Below is a listing of organizations that provide salary data online, along with the title and URL of the table or report. Some of the entries also include notes on methodology or tips for navigating the website.
RBMA makes no representation regarding the accuracy of the salary data included in these links. We recommend the use of multiple sources of salary information for comparison purposes as well as an evaluation of the quality of the information based on such criteria as the methodology of the survey, the source (employer or employee) and age of the data, and the number of salaries included for each position.
Please email information about other sources of relevant salary data to cynthia.vervena@rbma.org.

The Occupational Employment Statistics program collects data on more than 800 occupations through a semi-annual national survey of employers covering 70 percent of all U.S. employment. Employers are surveyed on a rotating basis once every three years, and the three years of salary data are combined and aged appropriately for each annual report. Earnings are reported as average and median hourly wages and annual salaries; 10th, 25th, 75th, and 90th percentile data are available in downloadable Excel® files.
The national industry-specific tables include data for hospitals, physicians’ offices, medical and diagnostic laboratories, and so on. State and metropolitan area industry-specific information may be available from state workforce agencies (find yours at http://www.bls.gov/bls/ofolist.htm).
See code families 29-0000, Healthcare Practitioner and Technical Occupations, and 31-0000, Healthcare Support Occupations, for healthcare-related positions. You may also click on a job title to obtain additional salary information for that job.
Salary.com Salary Wizard™
www.Salary.com/salary/index.asp
Salary.com buys salary survey data from reputable companies, matches the positions to their job titles, runs the data through a proprietary mathematical model, and validates the results against Bureau of Labor Statistics and other market data. The database is updated monthly.
Enter a job title to search for, or click on the "browse categories" link above the job title box then select Healthcare (Administrative, Nursing, Practitioners, or Technicians) from the drop-down box. Enter your ZIP code in the box or select a state and metropolitan area from the “browse locations” drop-down (leave blank for national data), then click the "search" button to list titles in that job family. Each position includes a description, which should be used to obtain the best match.
The "for employers" option reports 10th, 25th, 75th, and 90th percentile (national) data that have been multiplied by a geographic differential based on your selected geographic area for base salary and bonuses, as well as a page on benefits that shows median value of salary, bonuses, and employer-paid benefits including Social Security, retirement, medical and disability insurance, and paid time off (requires Java to view).
